Sitting here and tinkering with WordPress has me feeling like I should take a break from tech and go back to some old school writing. Hope the Internet doesn’t mind if I indulge myself and talk about what I’m currently working on, what I have been working on and where I see myself going. It’s been an interesting year thus far and off to a great start. Recently approached by my good friend @PhilKarl to join a startup he started out of his LIC condo (with CTO @WilliamKey) that is growing explosively called @LiveProfile. Already here for two months and it has been quite the experience and unlike any other. Not many people have the opportunity in their lives to join a startup or even start a startup, both of which I have been blessed enough to be able to do – but even more rare is the opportunity to join a startup that has been receiving the explosive growth with the magnitude of LiveProfile. I knew I would always be blessed to work on awesome projects that I love, just because I wouldn’t have it any other way but this opportunity had afforded me personal growth and business experience growth at my young age of 24 that needs to be acknowledged and appreciated by oneself.
So here is my awesome “stuff” rundown:
- Working with an awesome technical team – I can’t stress the importance of this enough. Without a strong technical team a product like LiveProfile would be doomed and we are very blessed here to have some of the top engineers in the country working on and vested in this platform.
- Being Funded – Lessens the burden of stress on the business team and the technical team. I say business team first because we would be the ones having to deal with funding had we not been able to secure some funding we would be pulling out our hair and worrying about monetization, which brings us to #3.
- Business Development – Being funded lets us focus on what matters most, increasing our network size, performance and stability which most startups don’t always have the ability to focus on and have to worry terribly about the bottom line. Instead I have the opportunity to focus on growth, structuring, expansion, corporate alliances, strategic alliances, negotiations, networking, human resources and all the other fun stuff that a business developer can think of when he or she does not need to worry about funding.
- Human Resources – When you are in the position of a company like LiveProfile you have the oppertunity to talk to talent that you do not come across everyday. BTW, we are hiring so please get in touch with me if you are a well rounded mobile developer.
- Getting advice – Networking in NYC’s tech scene has also blessed me with the chance to call upon my network for advice, which has been more important than anything to date for me and the company. Would like to take a quick second to mention an advisor on both a personal and business level whom many readers have already heard of named Ahmadali Arabshahi (@Ahmadalia) he has been indisposable with his depth and care in advising us, I don’t think I can express my gratitude enough. Be sure to read his paper on Groupon while you visit his blog its quite excellent.
Besides LiveProfile, I’ve been busy with LaundryLocal.com and expanding it into Los Angeles, acquiring more consumer customers, adding laundromats and dry cleaners and making other exciting deals I’ll update everyone on as soon as they are final. Oh, and we are working on apps!! Very soon you will be able to do laundry from your Android or iPhone!
I’ll try my best to spill out my heart from time to time and share my insights on the startup world, the trials and tribulations, the ups and downs and when we consider it a blockbuster success Ill be sure to let you know too. I’ll also get permission to profile some of the awesome people I meet along the way. Thanks for reading!
